Friends of Red Bridge Calls for Audit of Contracting Process

Pattern of Corruption and Insubordination at City Hall

The findings and allegations presented at the January
sixteenth session of the finance and audit committee by city
auditor Gary White sounded familiar to members of Friends of
Red Bridge:

     * Work illegally carried on without a contract in place
     * Application of MBE goals as a quota

Over the previous six months, Friends of Red Bridge struggled
with a process tainted by such practices, and other,
potentially more serious usurpations of power that have led to
the question "Who's in charge here?"

After witnessing the interest in the audit of the city's
RFP/contracting practices, Friends of Red Bridge decided to
ask for an audit of the Red Bridge study process. This
morning, this request was emailed to auditor White, the mayor,
and council. A brief statement was read to the finance and
audit committee this morning by FoRB member Teresa Edens,
accompanied by an information packet outlining the major
issues involved and including relevant documentation.

Chairwoman Hermann indicated the city manager would be asked
to respond.
