The Man Behind The Plan
Councilman Chuck Eddy
The Case of the FORB Petition
A petition circulated by the Friends of Red Bridge has hundreds of signatures, including those of several area elected officials. When presented with the petition, Councilman Eddy's assistant, Harry Ingels, began a campaign to pressure those officials to have their names removed from the petition. Even Mayor Barnes was enlisted to make pressuring phone calls. This is according to one of the officials who received a call from the Mayor. Why would a councilman's assistant do such a thing? And why would the Mayor be involved?
Though the petition simply called for a redesign of the roadway to be no wider than 2 to 3 lanes, the affidavit Mr. Ingels composed states that Friends of Red Bridge “materially misrepresented” the petition to them. What could be the reason for that allegation?
